Thin biscuit paper with laid lines and pulp visible. Fol. i on glazed European paper. Fol. 1 consists of glazed European paper pasted on the upper half of the first original fol. of the ms. The title is written on this later pasted portion. Fol. 263-264 (the later European paper) blank. Title on the tail of the text block (illegible).Copy completed on Yawm al-Ithnayn 24 Rabīʻ al-Thānī 990 in al-Madīnah al-sharīfah (colophon, fol. 260a).Incipit: الحمد لله الذي شرف طابه وشوق القلوب لسماع اخبارها المستطابة ... وبعد فقد شغفت باخبار الحبيبةExplicit: قال الهجرى ومرّ بين طريق اي تسلك هناك الى يين والله تعلى اعلم بالصواب واليه المرجع والماب الحمد للّه هانا لهذا وما كنا لنهتدى لو لا ان هدانا الله وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد واله وصحبه وسلم - Golden brown leather over pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. Paper pastedowns. Red leather doublure of fore-edge flap. Upper and lower covers have a blind tooled central mandorla and an outer frame consisting of several fillets. Similar outer frame on the envelope flap, with small stamp on its point. The spine is broken. - History of Medina, an abridgment of the author'sTabiʻat wafāʼ fī taʼrīkh al-Bayt al-Muṣṭafá.
