Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red for headings and punctuation. The text is vocalized ; yā for alif maqṣūrah ; final yā dotted. Light cream paper, glossy, with laid lines and chain lines (in groups of three). Fol. 1 and 142 are later added fly-leaves. Marginal annotations (chiefly collation notes). Lacuna after fol. 125; fol. 126 blank replacement.Chiefly quinions. Catchword on the verso of each leaf ; the quires are numbered using Arabic ordinals (see fol. 11a).Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "Ḥadīth 98(?)".Origin: According to colophon, copied by Mūsá ibn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn ʻAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Khaṭīb bi-Jāmiʻ al-Mazzah al-qadīm [Syria] al-Shāfiʻī al-Manbajī al-Asmarī, Saturday, 25 Shaʻbān 782 [Nov. 24, 1380] (fol. 141a).Incipit: ابن ميمون قال رايت في الجاهلية قردة اجتمع عليها قردة ... باب مبعث النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم محمد بن عبد الله بن عبد المطلب بن هاشم بن ... حدثنا احمد بن ابي رجاء حدثنا النضر ... قال انزل على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وهو ابن اربعين فمكث ثلاث عشرة سنةExplicit: فجعلها في في الصبي وحنّكه به وسمّاه عبد الله حدّثنا محمد بن المثني حدّثنا ابن ابي عديّ عن ابن عون عن محمد عن انس وساق الحديث وهو اخر الجزو الخامس والاربعون من تجزية ستبن جزوا - Third or fourth part of an elegant copy of the Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī. According to the numbering of the quires and to the colophon (fol. 141a), this is Part or Vol. 3 of a set. However, the colophon is corrected into Vol. 4, and the title on the tail of the text block indicates Part 5 (probably from a note at the end of the text to the effect that this is the end of Juzʾ 45 out of 60). The copy contains the text from the end of Kitāb Faḍāʾil al-Ṣaḥābah (with Bāb Mabʻath al-Nabī"), to the beginning of Kitāb al-ʻAqīqah (starts on fol. 140a).
