The text is framed within a border in gold and black. Illuminated headpiece (ʻunwān) in gold and colors on fol. 2b. The text on fol. 2b is written in gold clouds, with the margin filled with scrollwork bearing stylized floral motifs simply executed in gold. Biscuit paper, thin and friable, with large laid lines visible. Fol. 1 and 214 are later additions. Ḥāshiyah on the margin. Several inscriptions on fol. 1a, including the mention "waqf" and a note mentioning a price. Quaternions ; catchword on the verso of each leaf. Corrosive ink ; paper extremely fragile.Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "Naḥw thālith 52". Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "Ḥ 80".Origin: According to colophon, copy completed on Monday 21 Muḥarram 858 [Jan. 21, 1454] (fol. 213a).Incipit: بسم ... احمد الله على عظمة جلاله حمد غريق بمطالعة جماله ... وبعد فانى بعد ان شرحت كتاب الكافية فى النحو اولا مع ايرادات ... قوله الكلمة لفظ وضع لمعنى مفرد اعلم ان معرفة هذا الحد موقوفة على معرفة اللفظExplicit: فانك اذا قلت فى يا زيدون اضربن اضربوا فى الوقف وفى يا امراة اضربن اضربى فى الوقف لم يعلم انه بدل عن النون او المحذوف المردود والله اعلم بالصواب واليه المرجع والماب - Upper and lower covers consist of dark brown leather over paper pasteboards, with gilt: large central gold panel filled with a stamped arabesque pattern and border alternating leather left plain with a small gold painted pattern and gold-stamped cartouches with arabesque.
