IV:241.)This translation was prepared by the Jesuits as a rival to the translation of Van Dyck, published by the American Bible society, 1860-65.The translation was made from the original Hebrew and Greek, compared with the Vulgate, the Septuagint and the Syriac. In critical passages the Vulgate was followed.Each volume has general and a special t.-p. and an approbation by Vincentius Bracco, enclosed in an ornamental coloured border.Vol. 2 lacks ed. statement; v. 3: Ṭabʻah 2.Vol. 1 dated: 1890; v. 3: 1882.
