Notlar Ms. codex.Title from beginning of text on fol. 2a. Other title from fol. 1a.The work consists of an introduction, which is followed by a chart made of linked circles for each of the personages in the chain. The circles are outlined in red and green or just red, and some are also in black laced with gold glitter (that of the Prophet and those immediately around him). Each of the circles is accompanied by some text outside it. The names are in either red or black, and the text is chiefly in black. Written in a small naskh with elements of ruqʻah in black ink with use of red. Glazed European paper. The text also contains a ṣalāt istikhārah on fol. 3a, between the introduction and the beginning of the chart on fol. 3b, in a different hand to the rest of the ms. This is written in a slightly larger, more formal naskh, it is signed Mehmet Muhsin [Jubaynah?] Zade Efendi, and dated 7 Dhū al-Ḥijjah 1241 (1826). Fol. 35b-36a, after the end of the main text, have an addition also in a different hand consisting of a list of important Islamic conquests and a list of Ottoman Sultans after Selim II, with whom the main chart ends, with their dates of accession, ending with Selim III (1789-1807), so this was added during the latter's reign.Incipit: حمد بى حد وثناى بى عد او حكيم قديم وعليم ... اما بعد بو مجموعهء مختصر ونامهء مقتصر تواريخ ملوك واخبار سلف سلوكدن زبان فارسى اوزرنه نقل اولنوبExplicit: بيت دين ودولت كيم اول همعنان سرتسر انك اولور ملك جهان - Olive paper over pasteboard with brown leather on spine and edges of covers. Pastedowns in light pink paper. - A genealogical chart from Adam to the Ottoman Sultans, ending with Selim II (1566-1574). According to the text this was originally a work in Persian, which was then translated into Ottoman Turkish. This latter version was then re-translated and completed/updated by Yusuf ibn Abdüllatif -- see beginning of the text on fol. 1b. For another copy of this work see ref. below.
