Notlar Ms. codex.Physical description: 23 lines per page, written in ruqʻah script in black on European laid paper. Catchwords; keywords and markings in red. Some marginal notation. Fol. 1b features elegant red headpiece; all pages ruled in red.Origin: Copied by ʻAbd Allāh ibn al-Sayyid Mīr Muḥammad, known as Ḥafīd Muḥsinzādah, in 1278 A.H. (1862 A.D.) (from colophon on fol. 60a). - Half-leather Islamic binding with flap, pasted boards. - A biographical dictionary of Ottoman calligraphers and intellectuals of the 12th/18th century. The work was completed by its author on 22 Shawwāl 1202 A.H. (26 July 1788 A.D.). The work was compiled at the request of al-Sayyid Khalīl ibn al-Sayyid Muḥammad ibn al-Sayyid ʻAlī ibn al-Sayyid Muḥammad Murād, grandson of al-Shaykh Khwājah Murād al-Dimashqī al-Ayyūbī, the mufti of Damascus (fol. 60a). Lifetime, teaching, travels, masters, students, and calligraphic specialties are given for about 362 persons.
