Written in medium small naskh in black ink with rosettes in black, red, blue and gold and gold outlined in black for headings on fol. 1b-3a. Use of red ink for "qawluh" from fol. 3b on. The text is framed within a gold border outlined in black (blue outer line on fol. 1b-2a and 59a-66b). No frame from fol. 67a on. Illuminated title page in blue, green, red, white and gold. Light cream glazed paper with laid and chain lines visible. A few marginal notes. Catchword on the verso of each leaf. Foliation in black ink using Arabic numerals. Two spine labels, with the title in Arabic script and the number "318" in Arabic and Roman script respectively.Copy completed on Monday 22 Ramaḍān 818 [Nov. 25, 1415] (colophon, fol. 307b).Incipit: الحمد لله الذي لا افتقار الى مغنى سواه ولا اعتراض لاحد فيما عدّ له وسواهExplicit: باسكان الرآ وهو يصح وان كان قليلا فالظاهر تخرج النزيل عليه وليكن هذا اخر ما نحوته من رقم هذه الحاشية وعانيته من تسهيل الفوايد بهذه النكت الكافية الشافية وانا اعتذر اولا بقصور الباع ... [307ب] ... وثالثا بانى كتبت هذه الحاشية على غاية من العجل بعد ان قري على الاصل بالقاهرة المحروسة فى جامعها الازهر فى نحو ماية يوم وثلثين يوماً متفرقة كان ابتداوها في اوايل ذي القعدة الحرام سنة سبع عشرة وثمنى ماية وانتهآوها فى اخر رجب الحرام سنة ثمنى عشرة وكان عزمى ... بانشآء كتابه هذا واتمامه فى البلد الحرام فى شهر ذى القعدة الحرام ويسر عليه اتمام ما الحقه من الزوايد فى شهر رجب الحرام ... وان يمن على نفوسنا الفاتحة لابواب السوال بحسن الخاتمة والصلاة و السلام على سيدنا محمد بدر التمام ومسك الختام وعلى اله وصحبه وعبرته وحزبه - Red leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. Both covers have a central gold and red mandorla with an outer border made of fillets. Similar border on the envelope flap with smaller stamp on its point. Khaki paper pastedowns. Disbound. - Gloss on Mughnī al-labīb ʻan kutub al-Aʻārīb by ʻAbd Allāh ibn Yūsuf ibn Aḥmad ibn Hishām (d. 761/1360), on grammar. A note on the margin of fol. 3a explains how this gloss was composed in Egypt, and should not be confused with the Tuḥfat al-gharīb, a commentary on the same text by same the author in India.
