Four leaves of the same paper after the colophon (fol. 230-233), and two at the end of the copy (fol. 239-240). Title on tail of text block.Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "Ḥāʼ 580".Origin: Copy completed by Yaḥyá ibn Muḥammad ibn Ṣāliḥ ibn Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan, on Saturday 14 Jumādá al-Ūlá 962 [April 6, 1555] (colophon, fol. 228b). [6أ] ... قال المصنّف رحمه الله تعالى القسم الثالث من الكتاب رتب كتابه على ثلاثة اقسام واردفها بتكملة وفنين وتوجيهه ان علم العربية المسمى بعلم الادبExplicit: فوجب ان يورد فى كتابه علم الاستدلال المشتمل على علم الحد لانه جزء من علم البلاغة كما صرّح به فيما مرّ وحققه ههنا وهذا اخر ما يسّر الله تعالى بمنّه ولطفه من كشف فوايد هذا العلم ونظم فرايده ونساءل الله سبحانه ان ينفع به المسترشدين وان يجعله ذخرا لنا يوم الدين وقد نجز الفراغ من تاليفه واسطه شوال سنه ثلث وثمانمايه وحسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل نعم المولى ونعم النصير - Brown friable leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers. The covers are similarly blind tooled with a central panel with a eight-point motif, and a large border consisting of three running patterns of impressions of different stamps and fillets. paper pastedown and free end paper. - Commentary on the third part of Miftāḥ al-ʻulūm, by Sirāj al-Dīn Yūsuf ibn Abī Bakr al-Sakkākī (d. 626/1228 or 29), on rhetoric (al-Maʻānī wa-al-bayān). The commentary is known as al-Misbāḥ fī sharḥ al-Miftāḥ, and was completed in Shawwāl 803 [1401] according the end of the text. The text is followed on fol. 229a and 234a-238b, by verses of poetry, the recto written on the long side.
