Notlar "The Persian prose work Menâkıbü'l-ârifîn, in which Eflâki relates the legend of Mevlânâ and those close to him, has been translated as well as rewritten in abbreviated form in Persian numerous times since its original composition in the 14th century. Thus a chain of Menâkıbü'l-ârifîn versions has been formed. Tercüme-i menâkıb-ı mevlânâ, one of two verse translations in this chain, was composed in the 16th century by Kemâl Ahmed Dede, the first sheikh of the Yenikapı Mevlevî dervish lodge. This sufi mesnevi, an abbreviated translation of Menâkıbü'l-ârifîn, comprises not only supernatural events, but historical incidents an social realities as well. The work, which consists of 4755 couplets, was written for the education of the dervishes in the lodge." -- from the abstract.
