Notlar Ms. codex.Title from fol. 1a.Copy completed on the 5th of Shawwāl 973 (1566) -- colophon (fol. 227a).15 lines per page, up to and including fol. 143, the rest being written (in a very similar script and style) later as a replacement and the text has 21 lines per page. Written in elegant medium small nastaʻlīq in black ink with use of red for rubrication. Catchwords on the verso of each leaf. Foliation in Arabic numerals in black ink. Several different kinds of glazed European paper. Fol. 4a has a table of contents in black and red ink. A number of short inscriptions in later hands on ff.3a, 3b and 4a. Several faint rectangular ownership seals on ff. 4a-4b.Incipit: يقول العبد المتوسل الى الله تعالى باقوى الذريعة عبيد الله بن مسعود بن تاج الشريعة ... هذا حل المواضع المغلقة من قاوية الرواية في مسائل الهدايةExplicit: ومع ذلك يباح التناول اعتمادا على الغايب تمت بعون الله وحسن التوفيق - Dark green paper over pasteboard on covers with brown leather on spine (evidence of previous all leather binding). Endleaves in high gloss dark burgundy paper. - A commentary on Wiqāyat al-riwāyah fī masāʼil al-Hidāyah, a work on fiqh by the author's grandfather, Maḥmūd ibn Ṣadr al-Sharīʻah al-Maḥbūbī (d. 1274 or 5). As for the work itself, Wiqāyat al-riwāyah is an epitome of the work called al-Hidāyah by ʻAlī ibn Abī Bakr al-Marghīnānī (d. 1196 or 7).
