Table of contents on fol. 2b-4a by Muḥammad Saʻīd Jazarī Zade, dated Dhū al-Qaʻdah 1149 [March-April 1737]. Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "Ḥāʼ 976".Origin: Copy completed in Rajab [8?]85 by Shaykh Abū Isḥāq ibn Sulaymān (colophon, fol. 230a). - Brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. Both covers have a gold stamped and red brown-painted central mandorla with two pendants on the vertical axis, outlined in gold with radiating flecks. The outer border consists of a gilt guilloche outlined by a fillet. The envelope flap has a gold stamped and red-brown painted medallion outlined in gold with radiating flecks, and an outer border consisting of fillets of various width. Red brown leather doublure with a gilt double fillet border. Later added purple fly-leaf. - Commentary on Talkhīṣ al-Miftāḥ by Jalāl al-Dīn al-Qazwīnī (d. 739/1338), an abridgment of part 3 of Miftāḥ al-ʻulūm by al-Sakkākī (d. 626/1229), on al-Maʻānī wa-al-bayān, completed in Herat on 11 Ṣafar 748 [May 23, 1347] (see end of text, fol. 230a). This copy contains several ḥāshiyah on the margins and between the lines of the main text. The text is preceded by four later added leaves, with a table of contents mentioning verses of the Qurʼān (numbered fol. i-iv).
