Notlar Ms. codex.Title from inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the fore-edge flap (horizontal). The name of the author of the first text appears in a note on the right margin of fol. 56b.Physical description: 17 lines per page. Written in black and red ink. Contains diagrams and tables. Light cream paper with pulp, laid and chain lines visible. Several leaves wanting at the beginning of the copy (only inner upper corner is extant), and between fol. 74 and 75. Severely worm damaged. On fol. 153b: Short excerpt apparently by the same hand as the main text. Fol. 154 and 155 are later added endpapers, with a short excerpt from Kitāb Aṣl al-uṣūl by al-Ṣaymarī written by alater hand. Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover (horizontal): "ʻIlm al-ḥisāb ... 17 ...".Origin: Text 1 copied in Tabrīz by al-Qāḍī Ḥasan ibn al-Ḥusayn Shahinshāh al-Simnānī, on Saturday 2 Muḥarram 716 [March 27, 1316] (colophon, fol. 56b). Text 1 is a treatise on arithmetics by Naṣīr al-Dīn Ṭūsī, completed in Rajab 663/April-May 1265 (GAL, SI, 930, no. 35). Text 2 is a treatise in Persian on the astrolabe, in 20 chapters (bāb), identical with the Bīst bāb dar maʻrifat-i asṭurlāb by Naṣīr al-Dīn Ṭūsī described by D. King, Fihris (1981-1986), vol. 2, p. 1081. Text 3 is an astronomical treatise described by D. King, Fihris (1981-1986), vol. 2, no. 1/2/6(2). Note that H. Suter, Die Mathematiker, 1900 (no. 276), following the Kash al-ẓunūn (ed. Fluegel, vol. 2, p. 180), attributes this last text to Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Kharaqī, d. 533.
