Notlar Ms. codex.Title from colophon on fol. 403a.Copied by Ali el-Hilmî, a student of Molla Hüsayn Hilmî, from the island of Chios, and completed in Dhū al-Qaʻdah 1253 (1838) -- colophon (fol. 403a).25 lines per page. Written in a small ruqʻah in black ink with use of red for rubrication (fol. 403a only is written in a medium small naskh). Text is written inside a frame outlined in two lines of red and one line of blue ink. Fol. 1b-2a have an additional inner frame in gold leaf, fol. 1b has an elaborate head piece (ʻunwān) executed in gold leaf with green, blue, red, black, yellow, orange and white watercolors, and fol. 2b has a small gold leaf head piece with yellow, orange, green, red and white watercolors. Fol. 402b (end of text) and fol. 403a (colophon) are decorated with a foliage pattern in gold ink around the text inside the frame. Catchwords in red ink on the verso of each leaf. Light cream paper with visible laid lines.Incipit: الحمد لله وسلام عباده ... اما بعد منت خدا يرا عزوجل كه طا عتش موجبExplicit: سنده بر نسنه سويلمك كركسين درومين ديدى - Half leather binding with envelope flap. Green silk on covers and on the envelope flap, with red leather on spine, fore edge flap, and around edges of covers and the envelope flap. Gold tooled (faded) border design on covers and the envelope flap made with wide gold guilloche and gold fillets. Gold tooled panel design (also faded) on the fore edge flap, consisting of gold guilloche and fillets forming the frame, filled with foliage pattern interspersed with small rosetta stamps. Pastedowns in thick yellow paper. Lining to the fore edge flap in green silk. Text block edges painted in gold (fainted to light green) foliage pattern. Label on upper cover: "ʻUlūm riyāḍah". - A commentary of Saʻdī's Gulistān.
