Notlar Ms. codex.Title from colophon (fol. 261a).25 lines per page. Written in medium small naskh in black ink with use of red. Thin friable dark cream paper with laid lines visible. Fol. 40-69, 102-117, and 254 are later replacements on European glazed paper with watermark. Fol. (i) is a later added endleaf, on European paper with watermark, with inscription. The leaves have irregular dimensions. Hole in fol. 1-3, with loss of text. Worm eaten and extremely fragile. Two spine labels, one in Arabic script reading: "Tafsīr al-Kashshāf jild 1", the other, partly wanting, reading "96" in Western numerals.Copy completed in Rajab 888 [Aug. 1483] by(?) Maḥmūd ibn ʻAlī al-Zāhidī al-Qabbānī (colophon, fol. 261a).Incipit: الحمد [---] انزل القرأن كلاما مؤلّفًا منظّمًا ونزله بحسب المصالح منجّما وجعله بالتحميد [---] ... اعلم انّ متن كلّ علم وعمود كل صناعة طبقات العلمآ فيه متدانيةExplicit: فمن قرأ الانعام صلى الله عليه واستغفر له اولئك السبعون الف ملك بعد وكل اية من سورة الانعام يوما وليلة - Red leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. The covers and envelope flap are blind tooled, with two sets of horizontal fillets dividing in two a panel defined by an outer border consisting of fillets, with inner corners outlined by fillets. The spaces defined by these fillets are filled with two types of rosette stamps. Paper pastedowns. Rebacked. - Part of the Kashshāf, comprising the commentary of sūrah 1-6 (Sūrat al-Anʻām starts on fol. 237a).
Kaynak Ownership statement signed ʻAlī al-ʻĀkif, formerly muftī in ʻAyntāb(?), with seal (fol. 1a). Acquired from Murād Bey Bārūdī, Beirut, 1925.
