Rubrication and catchwords. Headings in large naskh in red; Arabic quotations in large naskh in black, vocalized, and overlined in red. Title and volume in large, red naskh at top of each page. Topics at top of page and outer margins in large, red naskh. Foliated in Arabic script in red on verso of each folio, with numerous mistakes; some of the foliation is missing due to water damage. Inserts between fol. 226-227, 375-376. Fol. 444a-445a, 446a blank. Water damage has caused paper loss around the edges, but text unaffected. Occasional smudging and foxing. Holograph.Origin: According to first colophon on fol. 440a, the text was completed in 1269 H. [1852 or 3] in the village of Tajrīsh in the township of Shamīrān on the outskirts of Tehran. In the second colophon the author states that he completed this copy from the first draft on the last day of Dhū al-Ḥijjah 1278 H. [28 June 1862]; this note is accompanied by two stamps of the author dated 1278 H.Incipit: الحمد لله رب العالمين سبحانك اللهم يا اول الاولين ويا آخر الاخرين يا حي يا قدوس ويا طبيب النفوس نور قلوبنا بانوار معرفتك بحرمة نبيك محمد وآل حججك على مخلوقك - Full brown leather with blind-stamped central mandorla, pendants, and fillets; pink pastedowns. Front cover detached. - Volume 2 of a Persian work on the martyrdoms of the ahl al-bayt. The first volume was completed in 1274 H. [1857 or 8] and covered Muḥammad, ʻAlī, Fāṭimah, and Ḥasan (fol. 5a). This volume addresses the martyrdom of Ḥusayn and is arranged in two muqaddimah, seven baḥr (each baḥr consisting of a number of gawhar), and a khātimah. The text is followed by notes on fol. 440b-443b, 445b. On the title page (fol. 1a) is a list of references used in the text.
