Several inscriptions on fol. 1a, including ownership statements.Two spine labels (vertical), reading respectively: "Ḥirz al-amānī wa-wajh al-tahānī wa-hiya al-qaṣīdah al-mashhūrah bi-al-Shāṭibīyah lil-Shāṭibī al-Ḍurayr al-mutawaffá sanah 590" (in Arabic), and "116" (in Arabic and Western numerals).Origin: Copy completed on Sunday 20 Muḥarram 959 [Jan. 17, 1552] by Nūr ʻAlī FRāT?ākhī(?) Shirwānī (colophon, fol. 132a).Incipit: بداتُ ببسم الله في النظم اولًا تبارك رحمانا رحيما وموئلا وثتّيتExplicit: وتبدي على اصحابه نفحاتها بغير تناهٍ زرنباً وقرنفلا - Quarter bound in brown leather and marbled paper. Traces of a now wanting fore-edge flap. Paper pastedowns. - A versification of al-Taysīr fī al-qirāʼāt al-sabʻ, a work on the readings of the Qurʼān by ʻUthmān ibn Saʻīd al-Dānī al-Qurṭubī (d. 444/1053). The versification is commonly known as al-Shāṭibīyah.
