The name of the author is given by a later hand as ʻAbd al-Raḥmān al-Suyūṭī but the author states in the preface that he visited Makkah A.H. 848 while ʻAbd al-Raḥmān al-Suyūṭī was born A.H. 849. Stated in colophon that work was composed A.H. 875 [A.D. 1470].
