Notlar	Ms. codex.Title from colophon (fol. 309b).Physical description: 21 lines per page. Written in medium large taʻlīq in black ink with use of red. The text is framed within a single red line (gold and black on fol. 1b-2a). Cream European paper (some leaves thicker than others), glossy. A few leaves dyed in blue. Fol. 1 consist of an original leaf pasted on the verso of a later sheet of European paper. Some leaves have borders repaired with the same European paper. Several inscriptions on fol. 1a, including ownership statement.Origin: Copy ("tanmīq") completed during the night of Saturday middle of Jumādá al-Awwal 1027 [May 1618] by Muḥammad ibn Maḥmūd known as (al-shahīr bi-) Ālāy Bey Zade (Bikzādah), in Damascus (colophon, fol. 309b).Incipit: الحمد لله الذى جعل البادي أميرا وقدّر للمراجع ان يكون مأمورا ومزح بينهما بحرين يلتقيان تخرج منهما اللؤلؤ منظوما ومنشورا ... وبعد فقد كنت قديما حمعت كتابى الذى وسمته بالمجاراة والمجازاة واودعته جملة من مجاراة الشعراءExplicit: يا من سما بين الورى قدره اكشف لنا عنه وعن اصله تمت وبالخير عمت النسخة الموسومة بالحان السواجع بين البادى والمراجع تاليف العلامة الحبر البحر الفهامة صلاح الدين الصفدى رحمه الله تعالى رحمة واسعة - Paper pasted on paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers.
