Notlar Ms. roll.Physical description: Written in tiny naskh script in black, red, and gold inks on parchment. First 16 mm. backed by brown leather with gilded fillets, which serves as a protective cover when rolled up; recto is a drawing of a crescent moon within a gold circle. Next follows a polychrome illuminated header with the title in red. The remainder consists of charts bordered by gold with headings set off in boxes which may be white, pink, or navy. The entire scroll is framed by a thick gold border, with copious explanatory notes in Ottoman Turkish in the margins between the charts and the outer border. The author's name is mentioned at the end of the scroll.Accompanying material: Thin wooden rod capped by two ivory buttons decorated with black inlay, 122 mm. long. - The text consists of charts for both Hijri and Rumi calendars and jadwals for the position of the sun. Dates range from 1199 to 1284 H. (1784 or 5 to 1867 or 8).
