(i) at beginning-178: fleur-de-lis with "FC"; three hats with "A"). Some staining; a few leaves are mildewed. In good condition.Origin: According to colophon copied 11 [Dhū al-Qadah?] 1190 by Maḥmūd ibn ... al-Ḥājjī (fol. 258a).Incipit: حمد بيحد خالقي را سزا است كه مرآت ضمير منىر آن نوادر توشىح و ترشىح حفظ آىات بينات کلام مجىد ربانى و توضىح و تصريح كلمات مشكلات معجز نظام قراني بفروع نورمعرفت و پرتو اشعات مشعل هدايت صيقل و جلاداده - Later type II (with flap) binding in dark brown leather. Blind-stamped mandorla with pendants and blind-tooled edging on covers. Similar decoration on flap. Light brown leather doublures. - Dictionary of Qurʼanic pronounciation with references to corresponding verses; table of contents on leaves 3b-7a. Translated from the Turkish original by Muḥammad Samīʻ ibn Shaykh Ardalānī and his brother ʻAbd Allāh for Sulaymān Pāshā; see Dānishgāh-i Tihrān catalogue for further information. The translators state that the original was written in Dhū al-Ḥijjah 1155 H (leaf 10a), but they must be referring to the date of the copy they used as the author lived in the 11th century Hijri.
