An encyclopaedia of 12 sciences.2. fol. 84a-95b: [Tabakat]. A short account of Islamic rulers, beginning with the first caliphs and ending with the Ottoman dynasty, specifically with the accession of Selim II (1566). The rulers/periods are divided into tabakat, e.g. tabaka 1- the four rightly-guided caliphs, tabaka 2 - the Umayyads, etc. The work appears to be lacking the beginning (the text starts with "baʻdahu"; it is preceded by a short text entitled "Miran ve mirmiran", written on a free fol. between two main texts, but it is not clear whether this is related to the work). The main section ending with Selim II ends on fol. 93a, and this is then followed by another section subtitled "Fi marifet il-hükemâ" which contains a brief history of world philosophers, including Socrates, Plato etc.3. fol. 96b-102a: [Qaṣīdat al-burdah] Būṣīrī's panegyrical poem about the Prophet.4. fol. 102b-114a: [Hilye-yi Hakanî] A poem in praise of the Prophet Muhammad, describing his personal appearance and character. The poem was composed in 1007 (1598-99). The hilye ends on fol. 114a and is immediately (i.e. inside the same text frame on the same page) followed by another poem in praise of the Prophet, entitled "Naat-i Şerif", also by Hakanî (see explicit).5. fol. 114b-117b: [Collection of hilyes] A collection of poems of praise, starting with that of God, and the rest are of pre-Islamic prophets.6. fol. 118a-120b: Hilye-yi Cihâryâr-i Güzin. Cevrî Ibrahim's hilye in praise of the first four 'rightly guided' caliphs.7. fol. 120b-121a: Tabirname. A short handbook on interpretation of dreams, consisting of a list of the letters of the alphabet with a brief meaning for each of them. According to the text, this very short version of dream handbooks was produced at the request of Muḥammad ibn Khwarazm Shāh (see beginning of text).Show 4 more Contents items
