Written in small naskh in black ink with use of red. European glazed paper. Some marginal notes. Modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.Copied by "al-Shaykh Aḥmad ibn al-marḥūm al-Shaykh Muḥammad" on the 14th ("the 15th night") of Ṣafar 1128 -- colophon (fol.170b).Illegible ownership seal on fol. 170b. with an accompanying note in Ottoman, dated Rajab 1128 (?) -- see fol. 170b. Label in Arabic on inside of upper cover: "Ḥ 85/2". Label in Arabic on outside of upper cover : "Ḥadīth 54".Incipit: الحمد لله رب العالمين ... وبعد فهذه عجالة علقتها على مشكل شمائل الامام الحافظ ابى عيسى محمد بن عيسى بن سورة بفتح المهملة فسكون اصلها لغة الحدة الترميذىExplicit: فيتحرى له اهل الدين دون غيرهم جعلنا الله منهم مبنه وكرمه واجزل لنا من مدد سيدنا وحبيبنا ونبينا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم ... قال مؤلفه رحمة الله ورضى عنه وافق الفراغ منه ثامن عشرى رمضان سنة تسع واربعين وتسعمائة ... وافوز برضاه تعالى على الدوام الله على كل شئ قدير وبالاجابة جدير وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وآله وصحبه وسلم - Half calf with marbled paper over covers and envelope flap. - Commentary on Shamāʾil Nabawīyah by Muḥammad ibn ʻĪsá al-Tirmidhī (d. 892). Work was originally dictated in Mecca during the month of Ramaḍān, 949 (1542/43) -- fol. 1a. The dictation was started on the 3rd and completed on the 28th (?) [see end of text] of Ramaḍan 949 (January 1543) -- fol. 170b.
