Notlar Title devised by cataloger.Reports written by the Turkish officer of the Standard Oil Company in Constantinople, to company headquarters in New York, in 1914 and 1921. They provide insight into British and American oil rivalries as well as significant players: Calouste Gulbenkian (1869-1955), William Knox D'Arcy (1849-1917), Sir Edward Grey (1862-1933), John D. Rockefeller (1839-1937), etc. Signed by "Edhem" on the envelope and the second report.The first document (1914) deals with the international conjuncture dragged into World War I in the context of Middle East oil. The document includes a detailed account of British relations with the Ottoman government in March 1913 regarding Mosul oil. Discusses the Baghdad Railway Company, the D'Arcy group, German interests, oil mines in Basra, the Turkish Petroleum Company, the Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Company, Gulbenkian, Deutsche Bank, the Turkish National Bank, etc.The second document (1921) cites a recent British newspaper article stating that the Ottoman government has not granted any concession for Al-Jazeera oil. It questions if the news was leaked from a Standard Oil of Constantinople insider.
