After the title the text is attributed to Mīrzā Āqā Bāqir Majlisī, partially crossed out; however, in the text it is stated that the work consists of selections from his books.Physical description: 30 lines per page; written in nastaʻliq in black on blue glazed, laid European paper. Text framed in gray and double red lines. Rubrication and catchwords; a few marginal notes. Arabic quotations written in naskh, partially vocalized, and usually written in gray and overlined in red. Some staining and paper repairs, particularly to leaves at beginning and end of ms., resulting in some loss of text. Edges ragged.Origin: 1231 H [1815 or 16] (fol. 296a).Incipit: الحمد لله الذي جعل النبيين والائمة دليلنا على حادة النجات وهدينا الى ما يوجب علو الدرجات - Contemporary full brown leather with blind-stamped central mandorla and pendants; edges and spine repaired. - A treatise on the essentials of Shiʻite Islam, culled from the works of Muḥammad Bāqir al-Majlisī; consists of twelve bāb listed on fol. 1b. The text was clearly written after the death of Majlisī, who is referred to as "marḥūm." A different preface matching that of Khvānsārī's well-known text by the same title is on fol. ib-iib; however, the list of chapters on fol. iib, identical to the list on fol. 1b, does not correspond to the description given by Āghā Buzurg, nor to Princeton copy New Series no. 1466.
