Notlar Ms. composite codex.Spine title.On p. 1 of endpaper: A Wylie, 1853.Collation: Paper ; catchwords (some with accompanying Chinese characters).Layout: First two pages of text frame-ruled in red and gold.Description: Written in Ṣīnī-like hand using a Chinese brush ; rubricated ; text block has been trimmed ; minor insect damage and discoloration.Leaves of pages are doubled in Chinese fashion; many are pasted together, others simply folded at outer edges. Some leaves appear to have been coated. Paper is unglazed laid stock, probably of Chinese manufacture.Incipit: [كلمۀ شهادة] الحمد لله من اول الدنيا الى فنائها ومن اول الاخرة الى بقائها ... كلمۀ شهادة ... - Binding is leather and marbled paper over boards. Spine and cover corners are black leather. Spine has five sets of blind stamped gilt lines running across spine; title frame and title also stamped in gold. Covers are marbled paper. Green and red silk endcaps. - Contains sections from the Koran and a text on the five pillars of faith.
