European paper. Taṣliyah repeated on the margins. Table of contents on fol. 1b-2b. Inscription on fol. 1a. Fol. 251b-252b: Blank, except inscriptions on fol. 252b. Title on tail of text block.Origin: According to colophon, copy completed on Thursday last night ("salkh") of Rabīʻ al-Ākhir 1119 [July 1707], in Dimashq al-Shām by ʻAlī ibn ʻUthmān ibn Iskandar al-Istānbūlī (fol. 251a).Incipit: الحمد لله الذي انزل علي عبده الكتاب تبصرة لاولي الالباب واودعه من فنون العلوم ... وبعد فان العلم بحر زخّار لا يدرك له من قرارExplicit: وانا اضرع الى الله جل جلاله وعزّ سلطانه كما منّ باتمام هذا الكتاب ان يتم النعمة بقبوله وان يجعلنا من السابقين الاولين باتباع رسوله وان لا يخيب سعينا فهو الجواد الذي ... واله وصحبه وسلم كلما ذكره الذاكرون وغفل عن ذكره الغافلون تم الكتاب فرغ المولف من تاليفه في يوم السبت ثالث عشرين شوال سنه ثمان وسبعين وثمانمايه - Golden brown leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap. Both covers have a central stamped lobed mandorla and an outer border consisting of fillets and a guilloche. Similar tooling on envelope flap. Red-dyed paper pastedowns. Upper cover detached. - Elegant copy of a treatise on sciences of the Qurʼān, completed on 23 Shawwāl 878 [March 1474] (see end of text, fol. 251a).

Ownership statement in the name of Muḥammad al-Fāʼiq, muftī in ʻAyntāb, with impression of a stamp reading "Muḥammad Fāʼiq", dated 12-3 H. (fol. 3a). Waqf statement in the name of Muḥammad Salīm ibn Muḥammad Fāʼiq ibn Kūchak Ḥāfiẓ Efend[i], muftī in ʻAyntāb, for Ismāʻīl ibn Ḥusayn, known as Ṭāshjī Zāde, with impression of a stamp reading "Muḥammad Salīm" (fol. 3a). Acquired by Robert Garrett from the books of Murād Bey al-Bārūdī (Beirut), 1925.
