Text is framed in gold, and background within frame is gold-sprinkled. Text 1 contains three quatrains per page, each separated by a gold line; the second quatrain is written on a diagonal. Some damp staining and insect damage, mainly marginal. A few folios are detached. Notes on flyleaves preceding and following texts, as well as fol. 1a and fol. 62b.Decoration: Illuminated ʻunwāns on fol. 1b and 28b, mainly in blue and gold. Each contains a gold lozenge bearing inscriptions in white: on fol. 1b, "Allāh wa-lā siwāh"; on fol. 28b, "al-Ḥamd lillāh."Origin: Text 1 dated Baghdād, 868 H [1463 or 4] (fol. 25b); text 2 dated 867 H [1462 or 3] (fol. 62a). Both texts copied by Faraj Allāh al-Ḥafiẓ.Incipit (text 1): تا بتوانى طعنه مزن مستانرا * از دست بهل تو حىله و دستانراIncipit (text 2): الحمد لله ... چنىن گوىد مخترع اين حکاىت و مبتدع اين رواىت که در شهر ىونان پادشاهى بود که عقل نام او بود - Full maroon leather with blind-stamped central mandorla and pendants; marbled paper doublures. Stored in a silk purse. - A collection of two Persian texts. The first contains 145 quatrains of Omar Khayyam, some which are unique. The second is an allegorical romance in which the characters are named for various virtues, such as Beauty, Love, and Wisdom, copied only 15 years after the author's death.
