Notlar Ms. codex.Title from beginning of text (fol. 2a, l. 11).The name of the author appears as Muḥammad ibn al-Sayyid Ḥasan at the beginning of the text (fol. 1b, l. 4). A few corrections in the margin. On fol. (i)b: Modern note on the work and its author. On the upper cover pastedown, inscription : " Unicum. Prix d'achat 350 ... . Excellent dictionnaire tout à fait inconnu en Orient ... ". Contrary to the mention on the upper cover pastedown, this is not a unicum.Collation: Paper, fol. i + 429 + i ; the last word of each verso is repeated on the next recto ; pagination in red ink using Hindu-Arabic numerals ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals.Layout: 29 long lines per page ; opening spread frame-ruled in gold and black (fol. 1b-2a).Description: Written in black ink with use of red for the headings. Light cream glazed paper with horizontal laid lines and vertical chain lines visible. Some pages are repaired (see fol. 2).Origin: Copied by ʻAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Rasūl, known as Naṣīr al-Dīn al-Manāshīrī [or Manāstirī] in 948 (colophon, fol. 429a).Explicit: باب المعتلّ اعتبارا لجانب اللفظ وطويت عنها ما يذكر في الكتب المستعملة روماً للاقتصار وهذا آخر ما اردنا ايراده والحمد لله فى البدء والاعادة حمدا يستجلب من نعمة الزيادة والصلوة على سيدنا محمد ... حشرنا الله فى زمرتهم اجمعين آمين.Incipit: بسم ... الحمد لله حق حمده حمدا يستجلب منه يد رفده ولا يبلغ كنهه عادّ ... اما بعد فيقول المفتقر الى الله ذى المنن ... ان كتاب الصّحاح كتاب فاخر وبحر مواج زاخر لكن لما فيه من تطويل واطناب بايراد كثير مما يستغنى عنه من الامثال. - Type II (with flap) binding in dark brown leather over paper pasteboards. Gold-stamped mandorla with pendants outlined with gold-painted design and gold-tooled decorative border on covers. Similar decoration on flap. Pink paper pastedowns. This binding presents similarities with the binding of Princeton, Islamic Manuscripts, Garrett no. 382Y. - Lexicon of the Arabic language combining and summarizing previous works.
