Two slips of paper with inscriptions, between fol. 2 and 3 and fol. 192 and 193 respectively. Small piece of paper with seal between fol. 31 and 32. Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the upper cover: "ʻAqāʼid 20". Inscription in Arabic script on a label pasted on the pastedown of the upper cover: "481/2 ḥāʼ".Collation: Paper, fol. 194 ; 1-23⁸ 24¹⁰ ; catchword on the verso of each leaf.Copy completed on Monday(!) 29 Dhū al-Qaʻdah 1237 by Muḥammad al-Sāqī for ʻUmar Bīk Ibn ... Maḥmūd Bāshā (colophon, fol. 193b).Incipit: الحمد لله الذي اختصّ نبيه محمد ... باصحابه كالنجوم واوجب على الكافة تعظيمهم واعتقاد حقّية ما كانوا عليه ... اما بعد فانّى قد سئلت قديما فى تاليف كتابا يبين حقية خلافة الصديقExplicit: ومداد كلامتك كلّما ذكرك وذكره الذاكرون وكلّما غفل عن ذكرك وذكره الغافلون والحمد لله ربّ العالمين - Red-brown leather for upper and lower covers with similar gold-stamped inner panel with a central mandorla and two pendants on the vertical axis within a frame with corner pieces, and an outer frame made of running patterns and fillets. - Treatise in three introductions, ten chapters (bāb) and a conclusion on the legitimacy of the first four caliphs, written in response to the growing number of Shīʻīs and Rāfiḍah in Medina in Ramaḍān 950 [1543] (see beginning of text, fol. 1b-2a).
