The entries are repeated on the margin in red ink with their order number written in black. European glazed paper with watermark. Some leaves are dyed in red, yellow, or green (see fol. 23, 24). Marginal annotations, apparently by the same hand as the main text. According to the catchword and the foliation in black ink using Arabic numerals, seven leaves wanting between fol. 1 and 2. Several inscriptions on fol. 1a, including a biographical note on the author, verses of poetry, and ownership statements. Several inscriptions on fol. 340a-341b, including verses of poetry and a prayer for the night of the middle of Shaʻbān.Copy completed at the end of Ṣafar 1165 [Jan. 1752] by Darwīsh Muḥammad Ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Ṣāliḥ Kadkhudā ibn ʻUmar Pāshā ibn Shūrīze Ḥasan Pāshā (colophon, fol. 339b, followed by two lines of poetry).Incipit: يقول العبد الفقير الى رحمة الله تعالى احمد بن محمد بن ابرهيم بن ابي بكر ابن خلكان بعد حمد الله الذي تفرد بالبقآء وحكم على عباده بالموت والفنآء ... وبعد فهدا مختصر فى التاريخ دعانى الى جمعه انى كنت مولعا بالاطلاعExplicit: وليتة بكسر اللام وسكون الياآء المثناة من تحتها منزلة فى طريق الحجاز ... قد رجع منها لعدم المآء وقاسوا مشقة عظيمة والله اعلم نجز النصف الاول من كتاب وفيات الاعيان وهو اخر حرف الكاف يتلوه اول النصف الثانى حرف اللام ترجمة الليث بن سعد ابن عبد الرحمن - Red leather over paper pasteboards for upper and lower covers, fore-edge flap and envelope flap.
