According to a note on the left margin of the colophon (fol. 137a), the commentary was completed in 988 H., but according to mss. listed by Storey the date is about 100 years earlier. The text is preceded on fol. 3a by a Fāʼidah mentioning the various kinds of astrolabs and followed on fol. 137b by a poem attributed to Shaykh Abū Saʻīd.
