Notlar In this letter, James Dow, Assistant Surgeon, temporarily in charge of the Residency, acknowledges Lieutenant Joseph Laurie's letter of 26 July, which requested twenty casks of liquor for the use of the British troops in the Gulf of Persia. Dow states that eleven casks, containing 1188 gallons of the best Bengal rum, have been forwarded on the Honourable Company cruiser, the Benares. Dow also acknowledges Laurie's letter to the Resident, William Bruce, dated 5 July, which concerned the conduct of the Broker at Muscat, who apparently enacted customs on supplies intended for British troops in the Gulf. Dow promises to report the incident to the Resident, who is currently in Bombay. | 1 folio | more | less
