Notlar The file contains correspondence concerning the issue of licences for the possession of wireless (later radio) sets in Bahrain. The licences were issued by the Government of Bahrain. The proceeds of wireless licences were handed over to the Political Agent, Bahrain by the Government of Bahrain in 1941 and 1942 as a contribution by the state toward the expenses of the Bahrain broadcast. The practice of charging fees for licences was ended in 1946.The principal correspondents are the Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department; the Political Agent, Bahrain; and the Government of Bahrain.The papers cover: correspondence between the Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department and the Political Agent, Bahrain concerning the application of the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act 1933 to Bahrain; and correspondence between Political Agency, Bahrain and the Government of Bahrain concerning the issue of annual licences to the owners of wireless sets in Bahrain.The Arabic language content of the file consists of bilingual English and Arabic notices issued by the Government of Bahrain concerning the issue of licences.The date range gives the covering dates of all the correspondence in the file, including enclosures. The date range of the main items of correspondence is 19 March 1938 - 23 April 1949. | 1 file (23 folios) | The papers are arranged in chronological order from the front to the rear of the file, except where enclosures of an earlier date are filed after their relevant covering letter, and terminate in a set of notes (folios 21-24).
