The purpose of the visit was to enable Shaikh Abdullah to acquire a good knowledge of English. The papers include a letter proposing the visit from Charles Dalrymple Belgrave, Adviser to the Ruler of Bahrain, and some details of Shaikh Abdullah's residence in England with a private tutor in Oxford (Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Hosking Gordon Browne).The file includes a divider, which gives a list of correspondence references contained in the file by year.
