Notlar Letter requesting that Porter despatch the Honourable Company's sloop Cliveto the Arabian Coast, in light of recent breaches of the Maritime Truce in the region, including the capture of a boat from Biddah [Al Bidda] and other hostilities at sea. Kemball also recommends that Porter tour the pearl banks and the 'pirate coast' to 'preserve the general tranquility' of those waters.There are three enclosures appended to the letter:1) The translated substance of a letter (ff 95-96) to Kemball from Hajee Yacoob, Acting Agent at Shargah, dated 2 April 1852. Yacoob reports of an act of piracy committed by order of Saeed ben Tahnoon [Sa'id bin Tahnun], ruler of Abu Dhabi, against a Dubai boat, alledgedly under Ameer Fysul ben Saood's [Amir Faisal bin Saud] orders to seize all Beniyas [Bani Yas] vessels;2) The translated substance of a letter (f 96 1) to Kemball from Hajee Yacoob, Acting Agent at Sharjah, dated 2 April 1852. Yacoob reports of a quarrel between two boats from Ejmaun [Ajman] and Heera [Al Heera], resulting in the theft of bamboo nets from the former by the latter;3) The translated substance of a letter (ff 96v-97) to Kemball from Hajee Yacoob, Acting Agent at Shargah, dated 2 April 1852. Yacoob describes a letter received from Sheikh Humdan Tahnoon of Abu Dhabi, alledging the theft of camels by Debaye [Dubai] subjects.
