Notlar	Part of a letter, c. 11th century, written by Samuel he-Ḥaver b. Moses, in Tyre, to Ephraim he-Ḥaver ha-Meʿulle b. Ephraim (sic! error for Šemarya), in Fusṭāṭ. He requests the recipient’s intervention on behalf of a young female orphan from Tyre who had married a man from Fusṭāṭ called Hillel. Once she had become pregnant, her husband took her savings of 5 dinars and abandoned her. She is now left destitute and trying to raise her young son.
