Notlar The letter covers a numbers of topics. Firstly, it explains that as winter is drawing in, the Lieutenant thinks awaiting instructions concerning twenty five British soldiers sent to join the force at Tabreez [Tabriz] will cause them unnecessary hardship. As a result, he has decided to send them to Tabreez in eight to ten days time. Secondly, it notes that the Residency only has Muselipitam bills remaining for sale; Bengal and Bombay bills are in high demand. Thirdly, it informs Sir Ouseley that there is no chance of the Lieutenant being appointed to the assistantship at the Bushire Residency, so he intends to take up the offer of joining the force at Tabreez. However, he requests three months leave in order to settle personal matters at Bombay and collect survey equipment; it is the Lieutenant's intention to conduct a survey while travelling to Tabreez. It also conveys a request for a firmaun from the King of Persia, Fat′h Ali Shah Qajar, to ease what is a risky passage to Tabreez and further requests information as to what travel expenses the Lieutenant is entitled to draw on. Finally, it requests instructions concerning what should be done with a supply of water damaged weapons unloaded at Bushire by the Benares. | 4 folios | more | less
