Notlar In this letter James Dow, Assistant Surgeon, temporarily in charge of the Residency, acknowledges the receipt of Robert Waite's letter of 10 March, which included a set of blank bills of exchange for the sum of 50,000 rupees. Dow reports that the bills, which have been completed on the Presidency of Bengal for the sum of 50,000 Secca rupees, have been transferred to a Bushire merchant for the equivalent amount in German crowns and New Persian rupees. Dow states that a negotiated sum amounting to 9800 German crowns and 39,600 New Persian rupees has been shipped on board the HC Cruizer Aurora, which is about to sail for Keshme [Qeshm], on her way to Bombay. Dow encloses a copy of the bills of exchange (not included), plus one of the bills of lading (also not included), signed by Captain Charles J Maillard. | 1 folio | more | less
