Notlar The file discusses the question of jurisdiction in Bahrain over Nejdis [Najdis], Hasawis and other subjects of Arab rulers, which had been under discussion by the British Government prior to the commencement of the First World War to which a decision had not yet been reached.Included are notes and correspondence in English and Arabic between the Political Agent at Bahrain (Norman Napier Evelyn Bray, acting Political Agent), the Shaikh of Bahrain (ʻIsá ibn ʻAlī Āl Khalīfah) and the Arabic Interpreter to the Political Agency (‘Abd al-Husayn).They regard specific cases in which Nejdis and Hasawis were arrested or imprisoned by the Shaikh of Bahrain or his Amir at Muharraq (Fahad bin Abdur Rahman bin Jalal) and tried in the Salifa or Shara [Sharia] court instead of being referred to the Political Agent's court. | 1 file (16 folios) | The papers are arranged in approximate chronological order from the front to the rear of the file. | Foliation: the main foliation sequence (used for referencing) commences at the front cover with 1 and terminates at the back cover with 16; these numbers are written in pencil, are circled, and are located in the top right corner of the recto side of each folio.
