Notlar	The letter is acknowledging letters and enclosing a copy of a letter from Francis Warden to John Adam, 31 December 1816, discussing the recent acts of piracy and the inadequacy of measures taken to protect British ships. Warden reports that Captain Philip Henry Bridges has requested a strong force and is of the opinion that only the complete destruction of the pirates' ships would stop the attacks. \| 2 folios \| Condition: The following parts of the text of the letters have been obscured owing to insect damage: numerous words on the right hand side of the letters on the verso of folio 8; the first words of each line on the bottom half of the letter on the recto of folio 9 and numerous words of the text on the right hand side of the verso of folio 9. \| more \| less
