Notlar The letter is reporting that the envoy — Ali ben Ibraheem — deputed by Shaikh Mahomed ben Khuleefa [Muḥammed bin Khalīfah Āl Khalīfah], Chief of Bahrein [Bahrain], to Egypt has returned. It notes that Abbas Pasha, Viceroy of Egypt [Wali of Egypt and Sudan], has declined his offer to assume a protectorate over the island; the Chief of Bahrein wished for the refugees to be removed from Demaun [Ad-Dammān], to be freed from the ascendency of Ameer Fysul [Amīr Fayṣul], and freed from English control at sea.It further reports that another of the Pasha's agents, Rustam Effendi, has arrived at Bushire, but notes that it has been established that his only object is the purchase of horses. The item has one enclosure; a translation of a letter from Hajee Jassem, Agent at Bahrein, to the Resident in the Persian Gulf, dated 23 January 1854.The enclosure is reporting the above information to the Resident. It also notes the presents that were presented by the Pasha to the Chief of Bahrein's envoy to Egypt, and that the cost of the horses purchased by Bihjut Effendi was also recovered from the Pasha. | 3 folios | more | less
