Notlar Letter regarding Syed Salim's [Said Salim II bin Thuwaini] exertions in Muscat, the Omanites selecting a new Sultan, the appearance of Torkee [Said Turki bin Said] as their favourite candidate, and the possibility of an opportunity to separate Zanzibar from Muscat and create a new treaty with Abdoul Majeid [Majid bin Said].The letter also discusses Pelly awaiting instructions with regard to the Telegraph and Colonel Frederic Goldsmid's return; the decision to send Hubert Isaak Walton to the Charliar factory and then Augaum [Henjam] with a steamer of workers and materials; Merewether's own movements in Hyderabad and Kurachee [Karachi]; and not being able to assist Pelly's brother's brother in law (Abraham Hojel Nickson).The letter is dated 20 November and was written sometime between 1866-1868 as this was the period that Said Salim was Sultan of Muscat. | 3 folios | more | less
