Notlar Letter regarding preparing Pelly's rooms for his return; Syed Turki [Turki bin Said] residing in the visitors quarters and a miscarriage in a remittance draft which Edwards believes to have been caused by the Postmaster, who has since departed Bushire.A postscript to the letter summarises a report from the acting agent at Shargah [Sharjah] that Syed Salim [Salim II bin Thuwaini] is flying the Turkish flag at Muskat [Muscat] and has come to arrangements with the Chief of Roostak [Rostak] as well as promising presents to the maritime chiefs as his father had before him. Other news reported includes the Bunyas [Banyas] at Kishm [Qeshm] who are being prevented from leaving by the Governor and who request Pelly's assistance to do so; and a letter from Abdullah ben Fysul [Abdallah ibn Faisal] which was read at Shargah and which called upon all the people to join in a 'great religious war both by sea and land from Bushire to Muskat'.A further postscript is a copy of a note from Secretary Major McDonald to Pelly informing him that 800 tons of coal have been despatched to Bassidore and that 200 tons more will also be sent. | 2 folios | more | less
