Notlar Recto: deed of sale in Hebrew for a compound in Damascus (a large and small house) at the Market of the Jews, for 280 Azīzī dinars. Dated 47[..] (= 940-1040 CE, but according to Goitein Azīzī dinars were only minted from 976 CE) in Fusṭāṭ. The seller is Mevoraḵ b. Ṣemaḥ known as Abū Milāh (אבו מלאה), and the buyer is Bašar b. Solomon. Goitein notes one or both of the men involved may have been Persian as the deed states that it cannot be invalidated by any Hebrew, Persian or Arabic documents produced in court (1983:286, 353, 363).
