Notlar The letter is acknowledging the commands of the Bombay Government (No 728 of 1822), which informed the Resident of his appointment to the new position of Political Agent in the Gulf of Persia, and that Captain Taylor has been appointed to be his assistant; a Native Resident is to be appointed at Bushire. It notes that this appointment will commence once the Resident has closed all his commercial concerns. In the letter, the Resident proposes selecting Bassidore [Bāsaʻīdū] as his headquarters, though the original orders specified Kishme [Qeshm], or Bussora [Basra]. It also notes that the Resident has delayed his trip to Sheraz [Shiraz], though it is mentioned that he still intends to obey the summons from Ḥusayn ‘Alī Mirzā, Prince at Sheraz; the linguist and the broker will be left in charge of the factory at Bushire during his absence.Enclosed with the letter is a firmaun [firman], received 11 July 1822 from Ḥusayn ‘Alī Mirzā, which stresses the necessity of the Resident's presence at Sheraz. | 2 folios | more | less
