Notlar In this letter William Digges Latouche informs Edward Galley, Resident at Bushire, that the Mercuryis proceeding to Bushire on her way to India with John Sullivan, Major Johnson and Alexander Macauley. Latouche discusses reports on the Imam of Muscat and his relations with the French. It is reported that the Imam had taken a French ship and had hoped to obtain his ship, the Salahee. Two of the Imam's sons had rebelled and attacked the fort at Muscat, releasing French prisoners and giving them command of a fort and the Imam's ships. Latouche relays a report that the two privateers have probably proceeded to Muscat, where they will be able to interrupt British trade. | 1 folio | more | less
