Notlar Robison reports on his activities in response to Kemball's instructions (ff 109-112): sailing from Bassadore to Sharjah, meeting the British agent Hadji Yacoob, and proceeding to Ras-el-Khymah [Ra's al-Khymah] to interview Sultan ben Suggar [Sultan bin Saqr] about recent Maritime Truce infringements, including the incident of alleged piracy at Zanzibar. Included with the letter is one enclosure, a statement (f 124) from Sultan bin Saqr regarding the removal of slaves from a boat at Zanzibar by one from Ras-el-Khymah [Ra's al-Khymah]. The statement was made before Robinson on board the Company sloop Clive, on 9 July 1852. Sheikh Sultan states that the boat, although owned by his subjects, was crewed by men from the Batinah Coast. He says that he is communicated with the Imam of Muscat to bring the perpetrators of the act to justice. | 4 folios | more | less
