The subjects Kemball discusses include: relations between the Wahabee [Wahhābī] and the Joasmee [Qāsimī] tribes; intrigues of the Wahhābī lieutenant Syed Ahmed el Soodeynee on the Arab coast and in Oman; the siege of Himireeah [Ḩamrīyah] by Shaikh Sultan ben Suggar [Sultan bin Saqr]; isolated incidents of piracy; the increasing decrepitude of Shaikh Sultan bin Saqr.Enclosed with Kemball’s report is letter no.1C (folios 95-96) from Kemball to Lieutenant Alexander Foulerton, Senior Naval Officer in the Persian Gulf, dated 4 June 1855. The letter relates to the good conduct of Lieutenant James, Commanding Officer of the Tigris, and violations of the maritime truce by the Shaikhs of the Arab coast, including the transport of arms used in the siege of Ḩamrīyah. | 9 folios | more | less
