Notlar Covering letter sent with two enclosures:1) Letter no.295 of 1852 (ff 184-85) from Kemball to Commodore George Robinson, Commanding Indian Naval Squadron, Persian Gulf, dated 3 September 1852. Kemball writes to Robinson, asking whether Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr of Ra's al-Khaymah boarded Robinson's vessel on his last visit to the Trucial Coast. Kemball notes that it should be obligatory for independent chiefs of the Arab coast to board British vessels when they visit;2) A translation of a letter from Sultan bin Saqr of Ra's al-Khaymah, to Kemball, dated 10 July 1852. Sheikh Sultan writes that, on the day in question that he was requested onboard a British vessel off the coast, it was especially hot and he was feeling weak. Sheikh Sultan requests that he be given leave to refuse requests to board British vessels if he feels unwell, with no risk of reproach. | 4 folios | more | less
