Notlar The file consists of reports of news received by the Persian Gulf Residency (the ‘Political Diary’ of the Residency) relating to various areas of Persia [Iran] and the Persian Gulf, for each month from November 1911 to December 1920 (there is no report for June 1914). The parts of Persia covered by the reports include: Mohammerah [Khorramshahr], Ispahan, Bushire [Bushehr], Shiraz, Bunder Abbas (Bandar Abbas), Lingah (Lingeh) and Kerman (Kirman). Other countries in the Persian Gulf covered by the reports include Maskat [Muscat], Bahrain and Koweit [Kuwait]. The reports were compiled by the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf (Lieutenant-Colonel Percy Zachariah Cox), or in his absence by the Officiating Political Resident, the Deputy Political Resident or the First Assistant Resident.They report on matters including: local officials; arms traffic; Customs; local government; British interests; foreign interests; the movements of HM Representatives; and the condition of roads, the telegraph and the postal service.The file also includes India Office minute paper cover sheets. | 1 volume (518 folios) | The papers are arranged in chronological order from the rear to the front of the volume.The subject 2297 (Persian Gulf Residency Monthly Reports. 1912-20) consists of one volume, IOR/L/PS/10/827. | Foliation: the foliation sequence (used for referencing) commences at the inside front cover with 1, and terminates at the inside back cover with 520; these numbers are written in pencil, are circled, and are located in the top right corner of the recto side of each folio.A previous foliation sequence, which is also circled, has been superseded and therefore crossed out. | more | less
